The 5th Barcelona Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality 360º Marketplace will highlight in the social and educational field

The oldest event dedicated to virtual reality ub Spain, organized by Mecal Festival, comes back one again. The 5th Barcelona Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality 360º Market will serve as a meeting point for renowned national and international professionals in this emerging sector with an emphasis on the social and educational fields. It will be structured in three parts.

On the one hand, the conferences will be organized around various themes such as VR Scripting, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Climate Change, Education and Social Issues in which Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality play a fundamental role.

On the other hand, this year thanks to the collaboration with the British Council, attendees will be able to enjoy a package of experiences that bring together the best VR pieces produced in the UK between 2000 and 2020. This will allow them to interact with the most outstanding advances in virtual reality in a totally immersive way.

Thirdly, VR Cinema screenings could not be missing in this edition. The outstanding national and international short films where you can see some pieces from the Cannes festival, the Venice exhibition and a selection of French short films on loan from the French Institute of Barcelona. These short films will compete for the award for Best VR Short Film.

This year's edition will feature renowned professionals such as Luis Villarejo, co-founder and CEO of Immersium Studio, who will bring his knowledge and experience in dealing with virtual reality as an educational tool; Gizem Senel, researcher at EVENT-Lab (UB), who will discuss the study of how virtual reality can affect racial prejudice. In addition to Edurne Rubio from Greenpeace Spain, who will contribute her knowledge on climate change to talk about the positive effect that virtual reality can have on this issue.

In addition to Kim Leigh Pontin, creative director of Nexus Studio and winner of the Baftas awards, who will explain the relationship between VR and Artificial Intelligence; Ana Bravo, CMO and co-founder of Waves of Virtual Reality, who will put in her knowledge and experience to deal with the cinematographic adaptation of the traditional audiovisual format to 360º video.

The event will be held on September 28, 29, 30 and October 1 in face-to-face format at the SGAE headquarters in Catalonia. It will have the collaboration of El Periódico, the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Canadian Embassy, RealoVirtual, Laval Virtual, VRE, British Council, Visyon, Padinthecity and SGAE.
