Sundance Channel's Up-to-the-Minute, All-Access Coverage of the 2011 Sundance Festival From January 21 - January 30
Sundance Channel sets up shop in Park City, Utah for the network's biggest ever exclusive, all-access, multimedia experience at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, taking place from January 20th - January 30th. For the first time ever, Sundance Channel will open its doors to Park City with a bricks-and-mortar operation, "Sundance Channel HQ." Located at the heart of the action at 692 Main Street, Sundance Channel HQ will be a non-stop hub connecting festival-goers, movie-lovers and trend-watchers everywhere to the films, faces and fashions of Sundance 2011.
Commented Sundance Channel EVP and GM Sarah Barnett, "All eyes are on the Sundance Film Festival every year, and no wonder: it's a one-of-kind event on the film calendar, a place to get early indications of what's next in our culture. We're proud to share the Sundance name and it's only fitting that we create an exciting media event on all of our platforms so that a wider audience beyond Park City can join the party." All the glamour, creativity and breaking news of the Sundance Film Festival come together at Sundance Channel HQ. Featuring live events, interviews, and places to relax and recharge, Sundance Channel HQ is THE place on Main Street to experience the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Those not in Park City will get an unparalleled insight into the activity, thanks to comprehensive coverage spread across Sundance Channel, sundancechannel.com and fullfrontalfashion.com. Whatever their location, audiences throughout the country will be able to get their window on the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. The network's on-air coverage, "10 Days of Sundance" will include daily Festival video updates, and wide-ranging interviews at Sundance Channel HQ with the year's most buzzed-about directors and actors. Digital offerings are the most numerous and diverse yet, and include an editorial partnership between Sundance Channel and The Daily Beast, the online magazine founded by Tina Brown. Nicole LaPorte, Senior West Coast reporter for The Daily Beast and author of The Men Who Would Be King, will be tracking all the action from Park City for both Sundance Channel and The Daily Beast. Exclusive postings and news reports will go up every day on Sundance Channel's SUNfiltered blog at www.sundancechannel.com/sunfiltered and http://www.thedailybeast.com/. The Daily Beast will also host a dedicated Sundance Film Festival blog. All Sundance Channel coverage will also be available at the dedicated Sundance Film Festival mini-site, www.sundancechannel.com/festival. Sartorial expression thrives off screen at the Sundance Film Festival, too, and Full Frontal Fashion, Sundance Channel's digital magazine celebrating fashion and personal style, will be reporting on the who, what and wear of Sundance 2011. Yvan Rodic, renowned photographer and creator of the hit style blog FaceHunter (http://facehunter.blogspot.com/), will be snapping all the premiere guests, eye candy and stylish happenings in Park City. Facehunters everywhere can log onto http://www.fullfrontalfashion.com/ for all the latest posts and a plethora of photo galleries. For the quick jolt of Sundance, up-to-the minute news flashes and sightings will be available on Twitter via @sundancechannel and @fullfrontalfash and on Sundance Channel and Full Frontal Fashion Facebook pages. "10 Days of Sundance" celebrates the raison d'etre of the Sundance Film Festival with special double feature presentations each night at 8:00pm. Nightly editions of "10 Days of Sundance" kick off with a feature film straight from the Festival catalog, the first being Bill Condon's sublime, Oscar®-winning tale of old Hollywood, Gods and Monsters (SFF 1998), starring Sir Ian McKellen, Brendan Fraser and Lynn Redgrave. Other highlights include Josh and Benny Safdie's Daddy Longlegs (SFF 2009), which just picked up two top Independent Spirit Award nominations and a Gotham Award; it screens on January 27. The second half of the night is devoted to distinguished films and series that are part of the Sundance Film Festival family-tree of organizers, advisors and alumni. The roster includes several films by artists for whom the Festival was a key launching pad, among them Jane Campion, whose Oscar-winner The Piano screens on January 29; Joel and Ethan Coen, whose Barton Fink screens on January 23; and Wes Anderson, whose Darjeeling Limited screens on January 30.
