Santa Monica International Film Festival Awards

The 2007 Santa Monica International Film Festival completed it’s return to the city on Monday evening, August 6th, with the Closing Night party at the Oceanside Ma’Kai Restaurant-Lounge Bar. The night’s cocktail party was an awards event honoring festival filmmakers and the best of the weekend’s extraordinary films. “It was incredible the way the festival was received by filmmakers, residents, and visitors to the city,” said David Katz, Festival Director. “We couldn’t be happier to award these incredible films and to return the festival to the city of Santa Monica,” Katz said.

The 2007 Santa Monica International Film Festival Award Winners are;
Best Of Festival, “My Carnival”, Directed by Michele Nocchi
Best Comedy Short, “Dartsville”, Directed by Tony West
Best Screenplay, “Chinese Dumplings” Directed by Michelle Hung
Best International Drama, “HER SMILE”, Directed by Minji Kang
Best Drama, “A Senseless Act” Directed by David de Vos
Best Action Film, “Fetch”, Directed by Daniel Bernhardt
Best Documentary, “Willie Francis Must Die Again” Directed by Allan Durand
Best Cinematography, “AGNIESZKA 2039”
Best Animation, “The Needful Head” Directed by Zeth Willie
Audience Choice Award, “The Counter”, Directed by Lauren Wagner

The Santa Monica International Film Festival is a green event celebrating powerful independent films. In addition to Opening and Closing night parties and a free seminar by Writers Boot Camp, festival attendees enjoyed documentary and short film screenings from around the world. Consistent with the festivals mission, movie goers were treated to an advanced screening of Leonardo DiCaprio's environmental documentary "The 11th Hour" in Los Angeles theaters August 17th.
