The Franco-German Youth Office (FGYO), official partner of the Berlinale, is calling for applications to enter the jury for the "Dialogue en perspective" award in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section.

Young filmlovers can apply from now on to become a jury member for the independent Berlinale award "Dialogue en perspective".

The prize is donated by the FGYO, and will be awarded atthe 60th Berlin International Film Festival (February 11 - 21, 2010) to a filmin thePerspektive Deutsches Kinosection.

In 2010,Berlin producer Roman Paul will preside over the jury of the "Dialogue en perspective" award.

Seven German and French cineastes, aged between 18 and 29, will be selected for the jury, who will award the prize in 2010 for the seventh time. All who have a passion for discussions about film, and who are able to express themselves in both German and French, can apply. The FGYO offers young people who enjoy lively debates with other film lovers the unique chance to experience and actively participate in the Berlinale 2010.

The deadline for applications is Friday, January 15, 2010.

The seven jury members will be invited to Berlin for the entire festival - including travel costs, accommodation and half-board. They will attend all screenings in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino during the Berlinale, and will afterwards present the award to the director of the winning film.

For the Franco-German Youth Office the aim of the "Dialogue en perspective" prize is topromote an intercultural dialogue between young German and French people, and toinspire interest for German film. The prize will be awarded to a film which appeals equally to critical young people of different cultural backgrounds. In 2009, the film Gittiby Anna Deutschwon the award and was presented last October at the Festival of German Films inParis.

Roman Paul: "Dialogue en perspective" Jury President

Traditionally the jury president is a personality who has fostered the German-French dialogueon the screen. Roman Paul founded Razor Film Production, a company that operates internationally, with Gerhard Meixner in 2002. Only three years later, they were already participating in the Competitionof the Berlinale with the German-Dutch-French co-production Paradise Now(directed by HanyAbu-Assad), which won the Blue Angel for being the best European film in the programme. In 2006, the film went on to win the Golden Globe and a nominationfor the Oscar. In the same year, another Razor Film production won the "Dialogueen perspective" award at the Berlinale: Bülent Akinci'sDer Lebensversicherer(Running on Empty). Producer Roman Paulalso attracted much attention and interest in 2008 for his work on the internationally acclaimed film Waltz with Bashir (directed by Ari Folman), the first animated documentary in the history of the cinema.Waltz with Bashir was a box office hit also in France and won many international prizes. Currently Roman Paul is working on completing theGerman-Hungarian-French co-production Womb(directed by Benedek Fliegauf) with Eva Green.

"I am looking forward to the experience of seeing new German films through the eyes of young people. I can't imagine a more delightful form of collaboration between France and Germany. We watch films together, discuss them with one another and then, when we are done, award a prize!" remarks Roman Paul about the tasks he is to perform during the 60th Berlinale.
