"It is with great sadness that the New York City Horror Film Festival will be cancelled this year due to the untimely passing of our founder, director and brother Michael J. Hein.

We are going to do all we can to keep the Festival going in Michael's honor, unfortunately it is just too soon to have it the way he would have wanted it.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have supported the Festival throughout the years, the filmmakers,
the sponsors, and to all of the fans just coming out to see a good flick!

Michael had a dream and thanks to the staff of the NYCHFF, his dream became a reality. There are no words to express our appreciation for all
of your hard work during the past nine years.

Michael always referred to you as his Festival family, and loved you all
