Just Film, the Children’s and Youth Film Festival to be held in Tallinn between 19th- 28th will bring an extra special present to young audiences as it celebrates its 10th birthday.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1), the premiere of the first half of the eagerly awaited conclusion to the Harry Potter franchise, will provide an exciting way to kick off 9 days of films, guests and events dedicated to the next generation of cinema audiences and filmmakers.

The films sees Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on a perilous mission to track down and destroy the secret to Voldemort’s immortality and destruction—the Horcruxes. On their own, without the guidance of their professors or the protection of Professor Dumbledore, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are Dark Forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart. Little does Harry know that his future has already been decided by his past when, on that fateful day, he became “the Boy Who Lived.” No longer just a boy, Harry Potter is drawing ever closer to the task for which he has been preparing since the day he first stepped into Hogwarts: the ultimate battle with Voldemort.

Other highlights of the festival include the international premiere of Ways To Live Forever, a delightful film based on the award winning children’s book written by Sally Nicholls. Starring respected English actors such as Emilia Fox, Ben Chaplin and Phyllida Law the film is a moving film that centres upon a young boy who is dying of cancer who wants to fill his last months with adventure and answers to the meaning of life. Also screening is Dog Pound, a tough and powerful drama about life in a detention centre for young criminals and Youth In Revolt a qurky teen drama about a teen (Michael Cera, best known for his recent performance in Scott Pilgrim Vs The World) who must invent a bad boy persona to make himself fit in,

Young people will also get the chance to be involved by being on the Young People’s Jury where they will select winning films from the many exciting movies on offer whilst budding film critics can take part in the Young Film Critics Club where they will write reviews on the Just Film website and blog.

The head of Just Film Mikk Granstom said:

Giving young audiences the chance to experience all types of cinema from around the world whilst also providing special workshops and events means that we can help encourage young people from across the country and beyond to become more involved in the world of film and filmmaking.”

Just Film is a sub-festival of the Black Nights Film Festival which also encompasses a main programme of premieres and retrospectives, the Nokia Mobile Film Festival (MOFF) which invites filmmakers from around the planet to make a short film on their mobiles and upload it to the MOFF website, the Animated Dreams Animation Film Festival and Sleepwalkers, the Student and Short Film Festival. On the night of December 4, the European Film Academy will be presenting the 23rd European Film Awards in Tallinn an event that will kick off Tallinn’s hosting of the European Capital of Culture
