The news in French I English This content and related intellectual property cannot be reproduced without prior consent. <i>Lantana</i> Collects Big at Aussie AwardsLantana by two-time feature film director, Ray Lawrence has emerged as the film of the year in the Emirates 43rd Australian Film and Television Awards presented by Australian Film Institute. The psychological thriller collected seven Awards including major categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress. The Lantana sweep was significant for producer Jan Chapman, whose last AFI win was The Piano in 1993, while Lawrence's previous win was 16 years ago for his only other feature film, Bliss which won AFI Best Film and Best Director in 1985. Lantana's major competitor, Moulin Rouge excelled in technical and production categories winning five Awards - including two for Catherine Martin (costume designer). The Bank won The Australian AFI Award for Best Original Screenplay and La Spagnola (Australia's entry to the Oscars) won the AFI Award for Best Original Music Score.
