Highlights of Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin 2020

The 2020 edition

Rencontres Internationales invites you to discover its new programme in Paris, with free admission, from 25 February to 1 March 2020, at the Louvre auditorium, the Grand Palais auditorium, and in several associated venues, including the Goethe-Institut, the Institut Suédois and the Cité internationale des arts.

Conceived as a laboratory for discovery and reflection dedicated to contemporary practices of the moving image, the 2020 edition offers a rare opening to discover the contemporary audiovisual creation. Documentary approaches, experimental fictions, videos, hybrid and multimedia forms: the programme of Rencontres Internationales is the result of in-depth research and invitations to outstanding artists from the fields of cinema and contemporary art. In the presence of artists and filmmakers from all over the world, this edition introduces a brand new international programme, comprising 107 works from 33 countries.

You will attend indoor screenings – more than 90% of which are French, European and international premieres, cartes blanches, special screenings, thematic video sessions –, multimedia performances, associated exhibitions and off-site visits, panel discussions and a daily forum bringing together art centres and museums directors, curators, artists as well as distributors, who will share their experience and thoughts on new audiovisual practices and their challenges.

The programme, which will be unveiled in a few days, offers many highlights. These include an exceptional carte blanche to Mark Lewis, the presentation of a VR work by David Lynch, and a focus on Ubermorgen (Austria). There will also be a screening with Rosa Barba (Italy), a rare film by Ben Rivers (UK), the screening of Shelly Silver's latest documentary (USA), as well as the presentation of recent or previously unseen works by Sebastian Diaz Morales (Argentina), Ghost Mountain Ghost Shovel collective (Taiwan), (la)horde collective (France), Laura Kraning (USA), Lina Selander (Sweden), Bogdan Smith (France), and many more.
