From Einstein to Fukushima - Latin American and World Premieres at Uranium Film Festival Rio de JaneiroFrom Einstein to Fukushima, from the first Atomic Bomb tests to the nuclear accident of Fukushima. The 2nd International Uranium Film Festival has now selected 40 documentaries, movies and animated shorts about nuclear issues that will screen at the cinema of the famous Modern Art Museum (MAM) of Rio de Janeiro 28 June to 14 July. The Uranium Film Festival is the most important showcase of "nuclear" filmmakers from all continents that sometimes risk their lives to produce their films. "We are proud that most of the selected films are Latin American Premiers and some are World Premiers", says Uranium Film Festival director Norbert G. Suchanek. A World Premier for example is "Once upon a Time in the Atomic City" by filmmaker Riccardo Migliore. It is a short documentary about a small semi-arid Brazilian town with a high rate of cancer and rumours about uranium exploration that had going on there fifty years ago. Another World Premier is the documentary "FOOD AND RADIATION" by Yoko Kumano. The Film addresses the issue of radiation in food after the Fukushima reactor disaster. Soon the festival jury will also announce the winners of the feature and short film competitions who will receive the Uranium Film Festival Award, the "Yellow Oscar". 31.03.2012 | Editor's blog Cat. : Actinides Chemistry Entertainment Entertainment food FOOD AND RADIATION Fukushima reactor Ionizing radiation Modern Art Museum Norbert G.
