Filmplus Academy enters the second round with six workshops and an International Masterclass on editing
Six workshops and an International Masterclass with dual Oscar-nominated editor Tim Squyres (USA) on October 25, 2019
After a great deal of interest and a lot of positive feedback last year, the Filmplus Academy will be entering its second round in 2019. On Friday, the 25th of October, in the run-up to the official opening of the 19th Filmplus Festival for Film Editing and Montage Art, six half-day workshops will be held again with competent and renowned German and Austrian lecturers, as well as a full-day International Masterclass under the direction of Ang Lee's editor Tim Squyres offered. With the support of Akademie-Partner Stadt Köln and the FFA Film Fund, Filmplus fulfills the desire for high-quality further education for film editors and other professional filmmakers.
Filmplus Academy 2019 workshops focus on improving the mutual understanding of neighboring trades, strengthening communication and self-awareness in the assembly process, and focus on dramaturgical aspects rather than technical innovations.
In terms of content, the workshops of the Filmplus Academy this year deal with the dramaturgy of literary adaptation and mini-series, sound design and film music as well as editing advice in documentary film and emotions not only in film, but also in cutting itself. A full-time practical exercise on the editing suite for the installation of VFX (visual effects) offers the International Masterclass at the US star editor Tim Squyres ("Life of Pi", "Tiger and Dragon", "Hulk").
