Costume designer Gabriella Pescucci is the winner of the Capri Fe2005 Tirelli Prize

The Tirelli Prize goes to Costume designer Gabriella Pescucci at next Capri Festival
December 29, 2005, Capri Auditorium

The recognition comes during the fifth year that the award has been presented in conjunction with the Capri, Hollywood Kimbo International Film Festival. The jury that selected her was presided over by Dino Trappetti, successor at the costuming firm founded by the late Umberto Tirelli. The other jurors were Piero Tosi, Pierluigi Pizzi, Maurizio Millenotti, Vera Marzot, Dante Ferretti, Francesca Lo Schiavo, Beppe Modenese,Graziella Lo nardo Bontempo, Lucia Bosè, Liliana Cavani, Edvige Fenech and Setsuko Klossowsky De Rola.

The Tirelli Prize’s link with Capri, Hollywood emphasizes that the honor is now a recognized international event. The first four winners included two Oscar winners, England’s Sandy Powell (2002 for Gangs of New York) and American Anne Roth (2003 for Cold Mountain), as well as young Francesca Sartori (2001’s Il Mestiere delle Armi) and, last year, Maurizio Mllenotti (Passion of the Christ).

The jury had no doubts in selecting Gabriella Pescucci. She has already won an Oscar in 1993 for Martin Scorsese’s The Age of Innocence and is competing for a nomination this year with Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Terry Gilliam’s The Brothers Grimm.

The presentation ceremony will be on December 29 at the Capri Auditorium.
