Cinema & Literature International Forum & Market in Monaco next April

ITALY – GUEST OF HONOR AT THE 4TH EDITION OF THE CINEMA & LITERATURE INTERNATIONAL FORUM: MONTE CARLO, April 1–4, 2005

The fourth edition of the Cinema & Literature International Forum will take place in Monte-Carlo from April 1 to 4, 2005 and Italy will be its Guest of Honor this year.

This Forum is the unique international platform of the Literary Adaptation to cinema and television where authors, publishers, literary agents as well as film producers, directors, and screenwriters from the all over the world meet and do business at official panels, round tables and movie screenings.

Seven prizes are awarded at the closing Gala ceremony:

• Award for the best Adaptable Novel
• Award for the best Movie adapted from a Literary Work
• Award for the best Producer of the year of a Literary Adaptation
• Award for the best Screenwriter of a Literary Adaptation
• Award for the best Actor of Literary Adaptations
• Award for the best adaptable Comic Strip
• Award for the best TV film adapted from a Literary Work

Forum’s history:

The Forum is placed under the High Patronage of the Hereditary Prince Albert. Created by Claire Breuvart, president, and Hans-Stephen Kreidel, executive director, it has already brought together such distinguished personalities as Mary Higgins Clark, Sydney Pollack, Paulo Coelho, Michael Cimino, Marc Levy, Alain Corneau, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Tim Roth, Douglas Kennedy, Claude Miller, Bernard Werber, Ben Gazzara, Moebius, Philippe Harel, Vincent Ravalec, Christopher Lee, Michel Blanc, Tonino Benacquista, Jean-Jacques Beineix, Benoît Jacquot, Michael York, Emmanuel Carrère, François Dupeyron, Marek Halter, Jean Becker, Florian Zeller, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Patrick Poivre D'Arvor, Isabelle Giordano, Michel Déon, Bernard Giraudeau, Guillaume Durand, Jacqueline Bisset, Amira Casar.

The Literary Adaptation International Market:

Thanks to its concurrent Literary Adaptation International Market, where many deals have already been negotiated and signed, the Forum has become a true launching platform for film and television creation.
Producers find here ideas and scripts for their films (pitches of novels and comic strips, free of rights, are compiled in a catalogue sent to the producers), as well as co-producers, TV fiction managers, regions and cities as location, film financiers and private investors.

The Event:

In addition to the daily round tables where the film teams of literary adaptations will round up their experiences, the Cinema & Literature International Forum has programmed to major panels:

• International Financing & Development. During this debate, movie and TV professionals from different countries will compare the different support funds available to screenwriters.

• Italy: Literary Adaptation and Co-productions. This panel will offer a complete and updated picture of the literary and cinema worlds in Italy now.

The opening Gala will be dedicated to Italy, with the exclusive preview of an Italian movie adapted from a literary work, in the presence the authors, directors, producers and movie stars from this country.

Cinecittà-Holding is the most important official sponsor of this Homage to Italy.

The Hollywood Studios have asked their books scouts to participate to the Forum 2005 in Monte-Carlo.
