César y Zaín docu to open Euro-Arab Film Festival AMAL’06

Larry Levene, the director of the film, will be among the guests of the opening acto of AMAL’06 Festival

A history of mutual discovery and intercultural dialogue, the documentary “César y Zaín” will be in charge of opening the International Euro-Arab Film Festival AMAL’06. The british director Larry Levene will be present on the opening act. He is known for films such as Una nube sobre Bhopal (2001) and El hambre del mundo explicada a mi hijo (2002).
César y Zaín, with Almodóvar brothers as film producer, portraits the conjuction of East and West through the common experiences of two twenty-year-olds of very different cultural and religious backgrounds. César, from Madrid and student in a catholic university, and Zaín, muslim Indian from Delhi, get to know each other thanks to a common hobby, chess, in a place that doesn’t understand what frontiers are, the internet. Due to their common interest on this ancestral game, both César and Zaín will spend some weeks living the day-to-day reality of their chess opponent in an exercice of human learning and intercultural dialogue.
Levene’s documentary will be projected on the official inauguration of Amal’06, the 20th of October around 19:30 after the intervention of Larry Levene, the film director, on the opening act. After César y Zaín, another documentary, Arafat, My Brother (Masharawi, 2004-05).will be screened at 22.00h.
