Busy Jury Duty this week for Bruno Chatelin as Virtual Jury in Estonia and Florida...

I spared some carbon for our planet and some fatigue, judging films from a distance, not attending Matsalu Nature Film Festival where I was scheduled to attend. That same week I had also accepted to become a jury at Miami Short Film Festival! Also I skipped my usual fest attendance in Deauville, TIFF and Venice!  Social distancing !!!

BUT I MISS EACH OF THEM A LOT!

I am happy to share more about these festivals, (my final votes are still under embargo of course but I can tell I saw some great films you d better watch yourself too.)

18 years ago a humble and tentative endeavour, Matsalu Nature Film Festival has now become one of the renowned and respected festivals in the film world, winning more and more attention with every subsequent year. Once started under the parallel name „Green Gate“ with this identifiable and obvious flavour of local event, it has now absolutely different dimensionality, covering the whole world. While in the very first year only 23 competing films from 7 different countries were shown to the audience during three days, in 2019 filmmakers from over 80 countries submitted over 1000 wonderful nature films from all over the world. While in 2003 there were participants from only Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Poland and New Zealand the present pattern is too complicated to sketch it onto an imaginable map.

Miami Short Film Festival

The Miami short Film Festival is dedicated to promoting the short film genre, showcasing films from 1-20 minutes long. The Festival is international in scope, bringing exposure to the world’s best independent up-and-coming filmmakers.

MIAMIsFF’s mission year after year is focused on motivating directors, screenwriters, actors, and producers to make films and share them with fellow filmmakers and industry professionals. The ultimate goal is to bring exposure to independent up-and-coming filmmakers.

MIAMIsFF is an avid supporter of local and international film makers representing cinematic productions that embody the true spirit of the art.  From original scripts to new cinematography and film techniques, each and every piece is the result of true emotion and expression.

The Festival presents a unique opportunity for our local community, tourists, and the next generation of talented filmmakers from around the world to experience the true spirit of the creative film-making process.

The MIAMI short FILM FESTIVAL has become a powerful cultural voice to South Florida and has created a positive influence on the arts through film.
