Arclight Films locks North America, UK, Australia, and Japan deals for THE SINNERS

Arclight Films’ chairman Gary Hamilton announced today the company has locked domestic and multiple international distribution deals for the teen-cult thriller The Sinners. The North American deal has been signed with Brainstorm Media; the Beverly Hills based distributor founded in 1995 by industry veteran Meyer Shwarzstein. Brainstorm Media is releasing the film on February 19th. International distribution deals include Signature for the UK, Defiant for Australia, and AT Entertainment for Japan.

The Sinners, is created by a rising female above-the-line team.  Directed by Courtney Paige from a script by Courtney Paige, Erin Hazlehurst, and Madison Smith, the young adult thriller follows an A-list girl clique that starts a cult where each of them must embody one of the seven deadly sins. They realize there is more to their small religious town after they go missing one by one.

“We are excited to have Brainstorm, Signature, Defiant, and AT Entertainment on board to bring The Sinners to screens in the US, the UK, Australia, and Japan. Their teams are top-notch, and they always do a terrific job at finding the best strategies to showcase elevated films such as The Sinners. We are delighted for audiences to have the opportunity to experience the suspenseful and gripping film that Courtney Paige so brilliantly wrote and directed,” said Hamilton.

“We are very pleased to team with Arclight on this release,” said Michelle Shwarzstein, Brainstorm Media’s Head of Distribution. “We can’t wait for US and Canadian audiences to see Courtney Paige’s fun and thrilling teen mystery. It’s stylish and sleek, yet nostalgic in all the right ways.”

Paige teamed up with seven-time recognized director of photography Stirling Bancroft (Freaks) to achieve the film’s visually striking cinematography. The Sinners boasts an ensemble cast including the fast-rising star Kaitlyn Bernard (The Professor, Netflix’s 1922, The Healer), Brenna Llewellyn (Girl in the Galactic Sun), and Brenna Coates (“Coroner,” Tics).

The film is produced by Siena Oberman (Skin, Mainstream, The Birthday Cake) and Hanna Griffiths (American Cherry, Angels in the Sky, Underbelly). Production company Neon Cinema Films, owned by Courtney Paige and Aftab S Chauhan, handled the service production. The film is a Globetrotter Pictures production, in partnership with Steven Richmond, Rylan Oleksyn Nicholas Adam Clark. Additional producers include Taylor St Pierre, Samantha Thomas, Alan MacFarlane and executive producers Aftab S Chauhan, Gil Demeter, Kyler Fisher, Suzann Toni, Aleks Paunovic, Courtenay Semel, Amar Deep Singh Hari, Justin Hoertling, Mike Bundlie, Rick Licht and Heliya Alam. Laura Rister negotiated the deal with Arclight Films on behalf of the producers.

Arclight Films’ current slate of films also includes the following completed titles: musical dramedy Seriously Red starring Rose Byrne; horror-romance Carmilla which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival; Twist starring Michael Caine, Lena Heady, and Rita Ora; sports drama Streamline with Jason Isaacs and Levi Miller; Venice Film Festival Official Selection The Furnace; magical coming-of-age story Chasing Wonders starring Paz Vega and Edward James Olmos; martial arts film The Foggy Mountain; the warmhearted comedy Butter; Here Are the Young Men starring Travis Fimmel, Dean-Charles Chapman, Finn Cole, and Anya Taylor-Joy; Sundance’s critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller Possessor starring Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, Sean Bean, and Jennifer Jason Leigh, directed by Brandon Cronenberg released on October 2nd in the U.S. by NEON.
