Malatya International Film Festival deals with a hot society theme: MIGRATION
2nd. Malatya International Film Festival will be held from 18th to 24th November 2011. With the support of the Malatya Apricot Research, Development and Promotion Foundation and Malatya Governorship, festival is led by Malatya Governor Ulvi Saran and organized by Global Mass Communication Studies Foundation.
The Festival's, ‘National Feature', ‘International Feature' and ‘Short Film' Competition juries, general programme and its theme are announced with a press conference in Istanbul on the 26th of October.
In his opening speech, the Governor of Malatya M.Ulvi Saran said; "We are very proud to host a festival for cinema which is referred to be the ‘7th Art' in the art world. The interest to the festival was immense last year. This year, we are adding the ‘National Full-length Feature Film' category to the competition. I hope that Malatya Film Festival will become one of the most important film festivals in Turkey."
The main theme of the festival is ‘Migration' The festival is going to mark the 50th year of the Turkish workers' migration to the Germany. There will be thematic film screenings and events taking place during the festival.

The winner will receive the ‘Crystal Apricot Award' for Best National Feature Film; as well as approximately $16,000 cash prize. The winner of the 'Best Director Award' will receive approximately $5,500 and the winners of the other categories will be awarded with approximately $3,300 each. The other award categories will be rewarded with; Best International/Foreign Film €15,000 and ‘Crystal Apricot Award' Best International/Foreign Director €5,000 and ‘Crystal Apricot Award' Best Screenplay €3,000 and ‘Crystal Apricot Award' Best Actress €3,000 and ‘Crystal Apricot Award' Best Actor €3,000 and ‘Crystal Apricot Award' Best Music €3,000 and ‘Crystal Apricot Award'
