2023 Tucson Film Festival Announces Opening Night Film KISS THE FUTURE
2023 Tucson Film Festival Announces Opening Night Film KISS THE FUTURE Arizona Premiere with screenwriter Bill S. Carter
The 19th annual Tucson Film Festival is honored to present the Arizona premiere of KISS THE FUTURE, a feature-length documentary directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain, Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 7:30 PM. Screenwriter and executive producer Bill S. Carter (Miss Sarajevo) will be in person alongside producer Sarah Anthony (Light & Magic series) for a special post-show Q&A. The premiere screening event will take place at Tucson’s beloved art house The Loft Cinema.
KISS THE FUTURE follows an underground community of artists and musicians that defiantly continued to work, create, and live throughout the 1990s Siege of Sarajevo. In a far-fetched scheme inspired by local resistance, Bill S. Carter who was an American aid worker living in Sarajevo, reached out to the world’s biggest band, U2, to see if they could help raise global awareness of the devastating conflict. The film follows Carter’s experiences in the war torn county and culminates with a historic post-war live concert by U2 that celebrates the city’s hard-fought triumph over ethnic nationalism.
KISS THE FUTURE was produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck for Pearl Street Films and Sarah Anthony for Good Wolves Productions. The film is executive produced by Drew Vinton, Madison Ainsley, Alan Moloney, Jennifer Pitcher, Nenad Čičin-Šain, and Bill S. Carter. KISS THE FUTURE is a FIFTH SEASON, Pearl Street Films, and an In Cahoots Production.
