The 19th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is now open for submissions

The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is now open for submissions, seeking documentary film entries in consideration for the 19th annual event in February 2022. The festival accepts submissions of non-fiction films of all forms, lengths, subject matters and genres.

Big Sky is the largest documentary film festival in the western United States, showcasing a broad range of World, International, U.S. and Northwest premieres. Selected for a 5th year running on MovieMaker Magazine's list of "50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee," Big Sky is an Oscar-qualifying event for short documentaries in two categories and hosts over 200 visiting artists during a 10-day festival. A competitive event, Big Sky offers cash awards for Best Feature, Best Short, Best Mini-Doc and the Big Sky Award to a film that artistically honors the character, history and tradition of the American West. In addition to screenings, Big Sky hosts the DocShop Filmmaker's Forum, a 5-day industry conference featuring ideas and trends shaping the field of documentary filmmaking, culminating with the Big Sky Pitch for works-in-progress.

Deadlines for 2022 festival submissions:

Early Bird Deadline: June 30, 2021

Regular Deadline: August 31, 2021

Late Deadline: October 8, 2021
