35th DOK.fest München 2020 Calling for EntriesThe submission is open! We are looking for documentary stories for the big screen that move and open new horizons. From now on filmmakers, producers, distributors and composers are warmly invited to submit their latest documentary films for DOK.fest München 2020 (06th to 17th May 2020). DOK.fest film programme For the 35th DOK.fest München we are looking for outstanding national and international documentaries with a minimum length of 52 minutes which have been completed after 1st January 2019 and which have neither been shown in cinemas nor on television in Germany nor made freely accessible on an online platform. Submission deadline: 20th December 2019 DOK.education programme for children and youth For our children's and youth programme DOK.education we are looking for short documentary films (10 - 30 minutes) that tell strong stories for and about children and young people (aged 6 to 18) in an artistic and creative way. The submission for DOK.education is free of charge and the films may already have been broadcast and shown on other platforms. Submission deadline: 20th December 2019 German Documentary Film Music Award The German Documentary Film Music Award honours film compositions that combine in a special way with the documentary narrative. Composers and filmmakers are invited to submit their original compositions for a current long documentary film from German-speaking countries. Submission deadline: 3rd February 2020 VFF Documentary Film Production Award Unique in Germany, the VFF Documentary Film Production Award honors courageous documentary film producers in Germany. The prize is donated by the VFF Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten mbH and endowed with 7,500 euros. The submission is independent of participation in the DOK.fest film programme. Submission deadline: 3rd February 2020 Save the Date: Upcoming calls for entries DOK.forum Marketplace DOK.forum Marketplace is the co-production market of DOK.fest München for strong documentary projects in the development stage. The event is aimed at the co-production area Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol and Luxembourg. Sumbission period: 9th December 2019 to 3rd February 2020 DOK.forum Marketplace: German Composition Funding Award The aim of the German Composition Award is to strengthen the artistic cooperation between filmmakers and composers. The prize, endowed with 2,500 euros, is awarded at DOK.forum Marketplace for the best compositional idea for a project in the making. Sumbission period: 9th December 2019 to 3rd February 2020 DOK.forum Marketplace: British Pathé Archive Award Since 2019, the new award at DOK.forum Marketplace has been honouring projects with a relevant share of archive material, thus strengthening a documentary genre rich in tradition. The winning project will receive British Pathé archive material worth 14,000 euros or, alternatively, 2,500 euros in cash. DOK.fest München presents artistically valuable, socially relevant documentaries. In recent years, it has developed into one of the largest documentary film festivals in Europe and has been the largest festival of its kind in Germany since 2019. The international programme includes three main competition sections and fourteen awards (2,500 to 10,000 Euros). In 2019, the festival celebrated a new record with over 52,400 visitors.
We kindly invite filmmakers, production companies and distribution labels to submit their current documentary films.
Submission film programme DOK.fest München
For the upcoming 35th DOK.fest München we are looking for outstanding documentary films with a minimum duration of 52 minutes, which have been completed after 1st January 2019 and have not been shown in German public television, nor may they have been screened in Munich and its surroundings publicly. Furthermore, submitted films must not be freely available on internet platforms. Further information can be found in our regulations. Premieres will be favoured.
Submission school programme DOK.education
For our School programme DOK.education we are looking for documentary films (10 to 30 minutes) showing powerful stories for and about kids and adolescents (6 to 18 years), told in an artistic and creative way. Submissions to DOK.education are free of charge and the films may already have been aired or shown on other platforms. Please find further information here.

Submission German Documentary Film Music Award
As part of the German Documentary Film Music Award we are looking for feature-length documentaries from German-speaking

SAVE THE DATE – Submission for the DOK.forum München 2020
The DOK.forum Marketplace is the co-production market of DOK.fest München and is looking for strong documentary projects in the development stage from German-speaking countries. A separate call will be made on 9th December.
The German Composition Award, endowed with 2,500 euros, strengthens the cooperation between director and composer. The prize is awarded at the DOK.forum Marketplace to a project in the making.
At the DOK.forum Marketplace 2020, the British Pathé Archive Award honours projects with a proportion share of archive material and thus strengthens a documentary genre rich in tradition.
