Dawn Westlake

Mediterranean Festival Corto in Diamante, Italy has awarded their 2018 Best Soundtrack prize to GC Johnson of Acoustic Labs for his original score on FROM ON HIGH, a short film written and helmed by Dawn Westlake and produced by her Ron de Cana shingle. Johnson was a 2016 Peer Raben Music Award nominee for his score for Westlake's 2015 film THROUGH THE PANE, and he won Best Musical Score for Westlake's A LIFE OF DEATH in 2006 from the Inventaunfilm Festival in Lenola, Italy.

FROM ON HIGH tells the story of a young Syrian refugee girl who finds a better life in Europe. It has been accepted to 35 film festivals and has won 7 awards, in the USA, Spain and Italy (5).

The film was shot and edited on location in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain by Pol Carrizo-Vilarroig of Imatge Barcelona. He won the Premio Carpine d'Argento for Cinematography in Visciano, Italy for FROM ON HIGH in July 2018.

The film marks the professional acting debut of 11-year-olds Zoe Pinell Lopez and Esteve Serra Coll.
