-OFFICIAL CINEFESTOZ MEDIA RELEASE-

David Wenham, Rachel Ward and other star guests arrive for Directors Lunch and World Premiere

Rachel Ward, David Wenham (The Turning Oranges and Sunshine, Lord of the Rings), and some of Australia’s newest stars including Jackson Gallagher (Patrick, Home and Away) Dan Spielman (An Accidental Soldier, One Day) and Alex Williams (Underground: The Julian Assange Story) will arrive in Busselton today for CinefestOZ Film Festival.

Australian actors, filmmakers and film industry heavyweights will gather for this lunch at the beautiful Aravina Estate winery in Dunsborough, which is arguably the festival’s most prestigious event.

David Wenham will be joining the rest of the cast and crew members from Abbreviation: WA Chapters of the Turning, a film based on the novel by Tim Winton set in Albany. This was a directorial feature for Wenham. Producer Maggie Miles, actor Dean Daley Jones, Directors Jub Clerc and Claire McCarthy will also be attending.

Hollywood director Gillian Armstrong (My Brilliant Career) and Nadia Tass (The Big Steal, Amy) will also attend along with many of the directors who have, or will be, presenting their films at the Festival.

Armstrong and Tass are part of ScreenWest’s special guest list for the Festival, as well as the Head of Roadshow, Joel Pearlman, Nick Batzias from Madman and Rachel Okine from Hopsotch will also attend. Ruth Harley, CEO of Screen Australia, and of course CEO of ScreenWest Ian Booth and the Chair Peter Rowe will attend.

Friday is always guaranteed to bring all of the stars and filmmakers to the Festival with the prestigious Directors Lunch at Aravina which sold out instantly.

Rachel Ward (An Accidental Soldier, Beautiful Kate) arrive for the lunch and she will be presenting her World Premiere Film An Accidental Soldier in Margaret River Premiere that evening.

“We are thrilled with the ticket sales for CinéfestOZ which have exceeded past years. Opening Night was sold out, Margaret River Premiere sold out, and today’s Directors Lunch has sold out as well,” said Festival Director Malinda Nixon.

The World Premiere of An Accidental Soldier will be presented by Rachel Ward in Margaret River tonight who will also participate in a Q and A after the film.

An Accidental Soldier is a Goalpost Taylor production that was shot in Perth last year and will be shown on ABC television.

Rachel is attending the Festival along with one of the stars of the film Dan Spielman (One Perfect Day, The Secret Life of Us, The Hunter).

Today’s Directors Lunch and Margaret River Premiere add to the host of events taking place across the region, which include an outside broadcast with ABC 720 Perth, Side Bars screenings of the WA Screen Award Shorts, and community and general screenings from Bunbury to Augusta.
