English director Ken Loach and Italian Emanuele Crialese have been selected for 2006 Capri Awards by Fiuggi as directors of the year. The two artists, along with the discovery of the year Fausto Brizzi, will be honored on the Blue Island on Thursday, December 28, the second day of the Capri, Hollywood International Film Festival.

"Loach and Crialese are two great artists who continually make superb contributions to European filmmaking” said Grazia Bottiglieri, vice president of Capri in the World Institute. Loach has already won a Palm d’Or at Cannes this year for “The Wind that Shakes the Barley”, and Crialese won a Silver Lion at Venice.

Promoted by Capri in the World Institute with the support of the European Union, the Councillorship for Tourism of the Campania Region, and the Director General's Office for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities, the festival will screen some 70 films, including Kimbo previews and reviews of the best films of 2006 sponsored by Casino of Venice.

Among stars and industry leaders who have already confirmed they will participate in the festival’s galas, premieres and the Fiuggi Symposium on “Cinema: Where are the Ideas?” are Terry Gilliam, John Irvin, Marleen Gorris, Kristoph Zanussi, Roberto Andò, Ricky Tognazzi, Ornella Muti, Sean Bean, Simona Izzo, Federico Zampaglione, Raoul Bova, Toby Jones, Claudia Gerini and Giancarlo Giannini, chairman of this year event.
