Rafiki has been selected for the Un Certain Regard sidebar, and it has already stirred up some controversy in its home country, where it has been banned because it “promotes lesbianism,” violating Kenyan law prohibiting gay sex. “I hope that the film will get a lot of attention and actualise the fact that there are countries which defend laws and attitudes that are completely outdated,” says Thorkildsen. He shot two films, both The Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries had their respective premieres, he produced four plays at the theatre, one TV movie, he had six children and struggled with several relationships. How was it possible? Bergman - A Year in a Life is a full portrait of Ingmar Bergman, showing all sides of the artist, lover and father and explains how the art was formed by Bergman’s private life and his experiences, through interviews, archival material and animations. On July 22 2011 more than 500 youths at a political summer camp on an island outside Oslo were attacked by an armed, right-wing extremist. Earlier that day he bombed a Government building in Oslo before making his way to Utøya island. In this first fictional movie about the attack we get to know Kaja (18) and her friends. The movie starts when the youngsters, shocked by the bombing in Oslo, are reassuring their relatives that they are far away from the incident. The Tower
Wardi, an eleven year-old Palestinian girl, lives with her whole family in the refugee camp where she was born. Her beloved great-grandfather Sidi was one of the first to settle in the camp after being chased from his home back in 1948. The day Sidi gives her the key to his old house in Galilee, she fears he may have lost hope tof someday going back home. As she's searching for Sidi's lost hope around the camp, she will collect her family's testimonies, from one generation to the next.

Joachim Trier appointed jury president
The Norwegian director will lead the jury of the Critics’ Week. “We are delighted to award the jury presidency to a filmmaker whose body of work offers a sensitive, mature exploration of some of the great issues of his generation,” said the Cannes festival management. Trier’s first selection for Cannes was his second feature, Oslo, August 31 (Oslo, 31. august), which was screening in the Un Certain Regard sidebar 2011.
