The American Pavilion Announces Programming for 2023 Cannes Film Festival Special Guests Include Jeffrey Wright, Todd Haynes, Tye Sheridan and many more.
Cannes, France (May 16, 2023) - Acclaimed actors, innovative filmmakers, independent film trailblazers and headline-making journalists will be among those featured during the upcoming “Industry In Focus” Series and “In Conversation” programming at The American Pavilion at the 2023 Cannes International Film Festival, it was announced by Julie Sisk, Founder and President of The American Pavilion (www.ampav.com).
The American Pavilion’s discussions and one-on-one conversations take place in the Roger Ebert Conference Center and are open to all AmPav members. The festival programming kicks off on Wednesday, May 17 and features a robust daily program with more than 30 planned panels, conversations and screenings running through Thursday, May 25.
“As we celebrate our 35st year in Cannes, The American Pavilion is thrilled to continue our mission of bringing together a diverse and global group to discuss myriad aspects of the film industry. We are honored to serve as an epicenter of conversation for these knowledgeable press, executives and filmmakers as well as the home for a new generation of students and emerging filmmakers,” said Julie Sisk, The American Pavilion’s Founder.
This year’s prestigious In Conversation series features intimate and insightful discussions with award-winning director Todd Haynes actor and producer Tye Sheridan, Killer Film co-founders Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler, costume designer and producer Heidi Bivens, and prolific production, financing and sale company Millennium Media.
The ever-popular Industry in Focus series offers an array of revealing and informative conversations with leading executives, producers, sales agents, casting directors, CEOs and journalists from across the industry. These timely and important topics include the current state of distribution in the U.S., the documentary marketplace, international and domestic sales, working across the globe with international co-productions, and film financing.
Programming includes executives and moderators from Arclight Films, Array Filmworks, Bleecker Street, Bloomberg, Cinetic Media, Deadline Hollywood, Good Question Media, Greenwich Entertainment, The Hollywood Reporter, Indiewire,, Kino Lorber Media Group LLC, Participant, Protagonist Pictures, Saban, Stampede Ventures, Submarine NY, 30WEST, Topic Studios, The Ukrainian Pavilion, Variety, XYZ Films among other notable speakers.
The American Pavilion sponsor The Golden Globes will present two panels; one about the 80-year history of red carpet fashion at the Golden Globe Awards and the other a discussion between scientists and filmmakers about solutions for the regeneration of our oceans.
Queer Night, which has become the best, biggest and only gay dance party event tied to the Festival, will take place on Tuesday, May 23 beginning at 9:00PM and entry is gratis to ALL Festival badge holders.
AmPav’s Emerging Filmmaker Showcase will celebrate its 15th year as a competition at Cannes \with an impressive program featuring 38 short documentary and narrative films by up-and-coming filmmakers from the U.S. and around the world, all of which will screen at The American Pavilion during the festival. This year's films show AmnPav’s commitment to inclusion with 23 female-identifying directors.
The American Pavilion’s Worldwide Student Program continues its pattern of rising student interest and program satisfaction year over year, with an increasing number of students returning to do the student program this year as Alumni.
Past Student Program alumni include director Jeff Nicholls, acquisitions executive Scott Shooman, CAA agent Maha Dakhil, Killer Films production executive David Hinojosa, MGM Television’s VP of Business and Legal Affairs Kathryn Floro, Syfy development director Eli Kirschner, Barack Obama’s White House videographer Hope Hall, and producers Cameron Porsandeh, Alex Shepsman, and Bryan Wynbrandt, among many others.
