AFI World Peace Initiative Cannes (Karl Bardosh Cell Phone Cinema)Humanitarian Cell Phone Cinema featured for the first time ever during Festival de Cannes to follow up with global Cell Phone Cinema Festivals and Partnerships
May 23, 2019 (Cannes, France) New Generation In Action’s AFI World Peace Initiative, an organization which holds ECOSOC status at the United Nations, hosted screenings on May 21st at the “World Peace & Tolerance Royal Gala” which took place on the Croisette alongside an awards presentation at the American Pavilion on May 22nd.
During Festival de Cannes cell phone humanitarian films were awarded in the Category of Karl Bardosh Cell Phone Cinema Humanitarian Award. This is the first time ever that Cell Phone Cinema has had a platform during Festival de Cannes, and also specific to humanitarian cell phone “Films of Purpose”
“Hollywood in your Pocket” that’s what Cell Phone Cinema means. Today everyone can learn the language of film and television, whilst carrying in their pocket a Smart Phone, which is in reality a full film studio. From writing, to shooting, editing as well as instant distribution, it’s all there. Cell Phone Cinema changes the World by putting this most powerful tool of audiovisual communication in the hands of masses of people from across the Globe,” stated President of Jury & Artistic Director Karl Bardosh.
The New Generation In Action (NGIA) is an NGO that is recognized with Special Consultative Status by the United Nations. The NGIA has been utilizing the diversity of media platforms to promote Respect and Dignity across the broad spectrum of global society regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or religion. With its AFI World Peace Initiative, the NGIA has chosen film as an impactful means to educate, enlighten and inform audiences of all ages, around the world; with a better understanding of the existential issues facing us all today. Through its multimedia initiatives, including film screenings and distribution to schools, universities, museums and libraries, the NGIA has been able to engage audiences in the Middle East, Africa, India and Far East.
The concept to add to the organization and facilitate global cell phone cinema humanitarian festivals, was facilitated by multi-media talent and Founder of New Generation In Action’s AFI World Peace Initiative’s Founder HRH Princess Angelique “Ademiposi” Monet, of Aquitaine and HRM Oba W C Adedoyin II, of The Anoko Royal House, Remo Kingdom Sub-Saharan West Africa.
“It was through meetings and agendas for economic sustainability at the United Nations and seeing the need for training and affordable filmmaking to tell stories that make an impact without high costs, the concept came about. In rural communities globally and inner cities around the world, we can tell stories that inspire, influence, and make an impact with the cell phone. With cell phone cinema, no one has an excuse not to tell their stories.
We are also implementing training workshops and opportunities globally, whilst also developing digital educational resources. These are the essential tools for such a promising industry. It is an honor to usher in platforms that can create opportunities for filmmakers globally plus educational resources, along with such an incredible and influential jury. Festival de Cannes was only the beginning of our global agendas to combine Virtual Reality, and Cell Phone Cinema platforms in New York NY, Los Angeles, London, India, Ghana, and Nigeria, beginning summer 2019 to 2020” stated multi-media talent HRH Princess Angelique Monet, of Aquitaine and HRM Oba W C Adedoyin II, of The Anoko Royal House, Remo Kingdom Sub-Saharan West Africa.
