The Land of a Thousand Scenarios. Outside the Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes, this message can be repeatedly found along with a stunning image of Sicily. The Sicilia Film Commission’s “Casa Sicilia” is located inside the iconic hotel and is a space created to host events by the commission.
Today’s press conference featured a presentation about the photographic exhibition “Sicily, Women and Cinema”, a panel of speakers who talked about the wonders of Sicily, and an exciting sneak peek to the upcoming romantic comedy Sicilian Holiday. The panel included four of the actors in the upcoming film which included Claudia Gerini, Ivo Romangoli, Lee Levi, and Cynthia Khalifeh. Director, Michela Scolari sat amongst them and discussed the inspiration behind the film. Scolari also revealed that the film is working in collaboration with Academy Award Winner Adam Leipzig, producer of “Dead Poet’s Society” and “March of the Penguins”. After the panel, I had the chance to speak with actress, Cynthia Khalifeh, further about her character, Antonia. Khalifeh emphasized the film’s motto “Sometimes you have to run away to find yourself” and how she resonated with the character she is playing. Filming is set to start this summer and will be shot in New York and Sciacca, a town located in the coast of Sicily. 22.05.2022 | Cannes's blog Cat. : FESTIVALS
