FREEDOM DEAL is the first ever movie about this chapter of history told from the Cambodian (Asian) perspective, taking place on May 4, 1970 in Cambodia on the ground while the incursion is actually taking place.

Many persons associate Nixon's Cambodian Incursion with student protests in the US that left students dead at both Kent State and Jackson State Universities.

But what was happening thousands of miles away in Cambodia?

'FREEDOM DEAL: The Story of Lucky' tells the story from the point of view of a youth refugee named Samnang ('Lucky') and the people he meets as he searches for his family and heads to the safety of the provincial capital - encountering landmines, horrific flesh eating ghosts, and maurauding helicopters on the way.

'FREEDOM DEAL: The Story of Lucky' is a pioneering new indie film made in Cambodia by a primarily local team, with the full approval of the Cambodian government through the Department of Cinema and Cultural Diffusion in Phnom Penh.

The movie is newly completed (10/31/12) and has begun initial festival submissions and outreach.
