"B is for Bomb," and W is for WInner (not George "W" Bush)

The American short film, "B is for Bomb," directed by Carey Mckenzie won the Official Cannes 2006 Online Competition for short films the other day. This 10 minute documentary is narrarated by a young girl, explaining the problems with bombs and nuclear warfare by going through the letters of the alphabet, giving an innocent prospective on a deathly scary and very politcal topic, ranging for historical lesson letters such as "C is for Cold War," to poetic reflections such as, "E is for Enemy, F is for Friend...F is for Fear." The letters are recounted with a voice over, showing a mixture of older edited footage and new animation. Despite the concise and simple way of telling everything, the young girl makes the audience seriously reconsider the values of American investment in a weapon that can bring the whole world to and end in an instent, do to all of the countries "N is for Nuclear" programs, including our own. Again, the child's innocence leaves you with a feeling of philanthropy and mild pacifism, wanting to make the world stop its violent ways and be innocent as children again.
