The selfie revolution has even reached the dizzying heights of Hollywood, where some of the most famous stars from the big screen are eager to try it out for themselves. The 2013 Governors Awards played host to many of the biggest names in Hollywood, but for iconic comedian Steve Martin it was a memorable night indeed. He received an honorary Oscar for his work over the years, and it was presented to him by Tom Hanks, who thanked him for creating movies that were “both of his time and are timeless”. Tom wasn’t finished there, however, as he got his phone out so that the pair could have a quick selfie before leaving the stage. The newest Star Wars film might only have just been released, but the legendary Darth Vader was getting in on some selfie action way before all of that. In 2013 the Star Wars Instagram account showed off Darth Vader taking a selfie in front of some defeated Rebel troops. Even this Sith Lord can’t resist a well-timed selfie, no matter the occasion! Any self-respecting Star Wars fan could do with having this image hanging in their home.

One of the most memorable things to come from the Oscars 2014 was this picture, which went viral almost immediately and generated more than 3 million retweets in a short space of time.
