Voltage Pictures will launch international sales on director Timothy Woodward Jr.’s upcoming horror feature The Call

Voltage Pictures will launch international sales on director Timothy Woodward Jr.’s (Hickok, The Outsider, The Final Wish) upcoming horror feature The Call, starring the Saw franchise’s Tobin Bell and the Insidious franchise’s Lin Shaye at the upcoming European Film Market, it was announced today by President and COO Jonathan Deckter. The script is written by Patrick Stibbs.

The highly anticipated feature, currently in production, is produced by Wonderfilm Media’s Kirk Shaw (Primal, Extraction), Timothy Woodward Jr., Lin Shaye, Gina Rugolo, Randy J. Goodwin, Jeffrey Reddick, Zeb Huling and Patrick Stibbs. Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor and James Shavick are executive producing. Voltage Pictures’ Babacar Diene and Sarah Dunn negotiated the deal with Shaw.

After the unexpected death of an elderly woman suspected to be a witch, a group of friends who tormented her are forced to call a phone installed in her casket. To their horror someone on the other end picks up and shows them what hell really looks like.

“Tobin and Lin, or Saw’s Jigsaw and Insidious’ Elise Rainier, as they’re known to legions of fans around the world, are match made in horror heaven,” said Deckter. “Timothy Woodward Jr. is a master of the kind of elevated horror that buyers love. This is a twisted and terrifying tale that is sure to set both pulses and box-office racing.”

Lin Shaye is best known for her role of Elise Rainier in the massively successful Insidious franchise alongside Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson. She has also starred in a variety of horror and genre films such as Ouija, The Final Wish (also directed by Timothy Woodward Jr.), and The Grudge. Shaye had her breakout comedy role of Mrs. Nuegeboren in Dumb and Dumber, before starring alongside Cameron Diaz in There’s Something About Mary. She can next be seen in Showtime's “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels”.

Tobin Bell is best known for portraying the menacing villain, John “Jigsaw” Kramer in Saw, one of the biggest horror franchises of all time. Bell has appeared in all 8 Saw movies as well as various videogame spinoffs. He has been nominated and won several horror film awards and he was also inducted into the Fangoria Horror Hall of Fame. Other credits include J. Davis’ Manson Family Vacation, Linas Phillips’ Rainbow Time and Jason Mac’s Old Man and the Pond.
