Our sincere thanks to the section leader Linda Söffker.
The film THE MELANCHOLIC GIRL was awarded two prizes on January 19, 2019 in Saarbrücken: In addition to the main prize, the Max Ophüls Prize: Best Feature Film, THE MELANCHOLIC GIRL received the Max Ophüls Prize: Prize of the Ecumenical Jury.

In search of a place to sleep, the melancholy girl (Marie Rathscheck) roams the city. On the way, she encounters young mothers celebrating her motherhood as a religious revival experience, finds refuge with an abstinent existentialist for whom sex is "even a market," and waits in a drag bar for "the end of capitalism." Her attempt to write a book fails on the first sentence of the second chapter, and she finds no place between art galleries, yoga studios, and the beds of strangers. Instead of trying to fit in, the girl begins to consider her depression as a political issue ...
A journey through 15 comic encounters through our post-modern society between precariousness and self-marketing, serial monogamy and neo-spirituality, disillusionment and the need for happiness.
In addition to the presentation of THE MELANCHOLISCHE GÄDCHEN, further films from the competition programs of the film festival Max Ophüls Preis can be seen in Berlin.
In the series "LOLA at Berlinale" pre-nominated films are running for the German Film Prize. These include Carlotta Kittel's documentary film ER SIE ICH (10.02.2019, 10:00, delphi LUX 2 and 12.02.2019, 14:45, delphi LUX 1), which premiered in 2017 at the Max Ophüls Film Festival, and Isa Willinger's documentary HI, AI (12.02.2019, 10:15, delphi LUX 1 and 16.02.2019, 14:30, delphi LUX 2) - Winner of this year's Max Ophüls Award: Best Documentary 2019.
In addition, "LOLA at Berlinale" with THE END OF THE TRUTH by Philipp Leinemann, our opening film 2019 can be seen.
