UK-based sales firm 101 Films International, the UK based sales division of Amcomri Entertainment Inc (AMEN:NEO) (FRANKFURT: 25YO), has taken on world sales of compelling new feature film 18½ .
Available now, the drama is inspired by Watergate, the US scandal that took down a President, which commemorates its 50thanniversary this year in June. In 1974 a White House transcriber is thrust into the forefront of shocking events when she obtains the only copy of the infamous 18½ minute gap in President Richard Nixon’s tapes.
Directed by Dan Mirvish (Bernard and Huey) and written by Daniel Moya (Scroll Back) the feature was filmed in Greenport, New York.
Starring in the role of Connie, Willa Fitzgerald (Reacher, Dare Me) is currently trending at Number 2 on the star meter on IMDB on the back of her stand-out performance in the Amazon Prime series Reacher. The feature film also stars Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead) as President Richard Nixon and Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men) as H.R. “Bob” Haldeman.
Other cast members include John Magaro, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Catherine Curtin, Richard Kind, Sullivan Jones, Alanna Saunders, Claire Saunders and the voice of Ted Raimi as General Al Haig. The feature film was directed by Mirvish, written by Moya, based on a story by Mirvish and Moya. 18½ is produced by Mirvish, Moya and Terry Keefe. Executive producers are Tel K. Ganesan, Ashwin T. Ganesan, Richard Schenkman and Sebastian Twardosz, co-executive producers are Paul Orzulak, Kyra Rogers, Elisabeth Jereski, Jarrod Phillips, Dana Altman and Frédéric Forestier. A Bugeater Films and Kyyba Films production in association with Syncopated Daydreams and Terry Keefe Media.
Andy Lyon, CEO, 101 Films International comments, “This is a fantastic pick up for us and couldn’t be timed better, there remains a real interest in this story 50 years on and the filmmakers have done an amazing job in creating a compelling, well-made and commercial movie. We are honoured they chose 101 Films International as their global partners.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with 101 Films International as our global partner on 18½,” said Mirvish, who’s also cofounder of the Slamdance Film Festival.
“I’m so glad to be associated with such a timely political thriller/dark comedy as 18½ given the current political polarization not only in the US, but across the entire globe,” said executive producer, Tel K. Ganesan, founder and managing partner of Kyyba Films. “18½ is a must-watch for sure.”
18½ is already an award-winning film, having played at more than a dozen festivals in countries ranging from Brazil, Spain and Canada to several in the US, where it won jury prizes at festivals at the Tallgrass Film Festival and Rome International Film Festival, and premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival. 18½ will have its UK Premiere at the upcoming Manchester Film Festival, and its Caribbean Premiere at the Barbados Independent Film Festival, both in March. The film currently is rated at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. 24.02.2022 | Berlin's blog
