Oscar Week New York 2012 Sixth Annual Meet the Oscars, Grand Central exhibit ribbon cutting opening ceremony presented by New York program director Patrick Harrison, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and hosted by Academy Award winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter, 2011) was held at Vanderbilt Hall East Side, Grand Central Terminal, New York, Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 10:00 AM. This year’s Meet the Oscar, Grand Central showcase How An Oscar Is Made, a series of Oscars in various stages of completion, manufactured by R.S. Owens & Company. See the Oscar statuette won by Michael Douglas for Best Actor in “Wall Street” (1987) and a real Oscar statuette on the 84th ACADEMY AWARDS podium for the public to hold and lift up with their hands, take photos, and make an Oscar speech. In addition, on display is the actual Oscar statuettes that will be awarded to the Best Actor and Best Actress at the 84th Academy Awards to be transported by plane to Hollywood, California on Friday, February 24.

AMPAS is an organization that educates the public about the art and science of moving making inspiring artists around the world to excellence. The 84th Academy Awards will be held at the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood, California, Sunday, February 26, 8:00 PM ET (5:00 PM PT) and televised live on ABC Television Network and in over 200 countries around the world. Meet the Oscars, Grand Central annual exhibit is exclusively in New York. Admission is FREE and open to the public.
