The 2nd Hola Mexico Film Festival 2009 (HMFF09) Opening Night Premiere of TEAR THIS HEART OUT (Arrancame La Vida), written/directed by Roberto TEAR THIS HEART OUT (Arrancame La Vida), based on the novel by Ángeles Mastretta, is an outstanding, powerful, and passionate film of love, war, and politics set in Mexico post-revolution during the 1930s and 1940s. The film depicts the life of General Andrés Ascensio (Daniel Giménez Cacho) and his wife Catalina Guzman (Ana Claudia Talancón). Young and innocent Catalina from a humble rural family enters the world of wealth, power, and politics as General Andrés wife who meets her greatest love, orchestra director Carlos Vives (José María de Tavira). TEAR THIS HEART OUT (Arrancame La Vida), written/directed by Roberto Sneider | Mexico/Spain | 2008 | 110 min. | Drama | Spanish with English subtitles | 20th Century Fox, La Banda Films, and Alta Vista Films, is the official Academy Awards entry for Best Foreign-Language category.
