Sincere congratulations to our festival friend Eugene Hernandez moving from Film at Lincoln Center to Sundance

We spotted and picked up this message from Eugene to his facebook friends and feel proud sharing it with our audience. Eugene has had such a brillant carreer in the independent film world building Indiewire then as the director of digital strategyat the Lincoln Center where he started then Director of the New York Film Festival and Publisher of Film Comment at Film at Lincoln Center where he served as Deputy Executive.
He was named Sundance's festival director in 2022; the 2024 edition of the festival will be the first under his watch.
We are quoting his words  below and wish him best of luck in this exciting carreer move!

"I don't make it over to FB all that often, but today feels like a good day to drop in. As I type this message, I'm on a plane to the West Coast to start my job at Sundance...

Today's my first day as Director of the Sundance Film Festival & Public Programming at Sundance Institute. I'll be in LA, Utah, and New York in the coming weeks getting to know my new colleagues in all three offices.

I started at the Film Society of Lincoln Center (now Film at Lincoln Center) twelve years ago today. Saying goodbye to the New York Film Festival and Lincoln Center has been a moving experience these past few weeks. This morning was particularly poignant as we celebrated and honored the life and work of Joanne Koch who lead the Film Society of Lincoln Center for 32 years (and remained on the board of directors until her death at the age of 92 back in August). Joanne's memorial was held at the Walter Reade Theater, the cinema she brought to life in the late 80s. It remains a monumental gift to all who have the opportunity to watch movies there (and is surely one of the world's great movie theaters). Joanne was a treasured co-worker and mentor during my time at Lincoln Center and I'll take so much that I learned from her with me on my journey to Sundance.

This photo is by Sean DiSerio from Closing Night of the 60th NYFF a couple of weeks ago. He just shared this shot of Dennis Lim and I introducing Elegance Bratton's beautiful "The Inspection" at Alice Tully Hall. It was an emotional and exhilarating night, a wonderful way to cap my twelve years at FLC & NYFF.

Thank you!
EUGENE HERNANDEZ
