17th Raindance Film Festival
17TH RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 30 SEPTEMBER – 11 OCTOBER 2009 OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS FROM JANUARY 1 TILL JUNE 19 The 17th Raindance Film Festival is now open for submissions. Raindance is the UK’s leading independent film festival and every year more and more films are picked up after Raindance screenings. Last year was our biggest and most successful to date and we aim to top that in 2009. But we can’t do it without your films. Raindance showcases features and shorts made by independent filmmakers from all around the world to an audience of film fans, journalists, acquisition executives, actors, producers and directors. The festival has hosted such guests and filmmakers as Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Memento), Shane Meadows (Dead Man’s Shoes, This Is England), Ken Loach (Kes, The Wind That Shook The Barley), Marky Ramone (The Ramones), Iggy Pop, Anton Corbijn (Control), Mick Jones (The Clash), Andrea Arnold (Red Road), Adam Yauch (Beastie Boys), Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs), Faye Dunaway and Lou Reed. Each year we receive thousands of film submissions of just about every genre you can imagine from very talented filmmakers so it’s safe to assume that the competition is fierce. If you think your film has what it takes to make Raindance ’09 then submit your film before 19 June 2009 (late deadline). Submit today for your chance to be a part of the 17th Raindance Film Festival and have your film screened to an audience of Britain’s most fanatical film fans. Short filmmaking is in the midst of a rennaissance becasue of the revenue potential offered by IPTV and initiatives likewww.raindance.tv. Screening at a festival is a sure-fire way to start creating a buzz around your film and your career. You are also likely to bump into short-film buyers eager for content for the dozens of fledgling websites desparate for movies. Short films are much easier to see on the web or on a mobile telephone than features (at the moment, at least) Troll down this list, and click on the links and look at each festivals programming to see if your film would fit. And google them to see if there any satisfied filmmakers talking about the festival of your choice. Finally, happy hunting.
