Winter Guest Wins Chicago's Top Hugo

Alan Rickman's The Winter Guest, starring Emma Thompson andher mother, Phyllida Law,has won the Gold Hugo award at this year's 33rd Chicago International Film Festival, it was announced by festival founder Michael Kutza.

The special jury prize, Silver Hugo, went to Tsai Ming Liang's The River, while the Best Director Silver Hugo went to Michael Haneke for Funny Games. Pernilla August was named Best Actress for her performance in Liv Ullmann's Private Confessions, with Sergei Bodrov grabbing the Best Actor award for his role in Alexei Balabanov's The Brother. CDS
