The industrial zone

The London Film Festival is now established as the major UK film event, not just for audiences, but for the film industry too. Nick Thomas looks at what's on offer this year for the execs

The London Film Festival is not just a celebration of the best of contemporary international cinema. As it has grown in stature, and with the UK production industry now in the ascendant, the LFF has become an increasingly important focus for industry professionals.

As in previous years the festival has an Industry Office, run by Mary Davies, which will offer video viewing booths for festival films for buyers at the Berners Hotel, and will facilitate meetings between filmmakers, sales agents, TV buyers and distributors. This follows the LFF's successful screenings of British films to international buyers in the week prior to Mifed, the annual trade fair held in Milan last month.

In addition, alongside the programme of films screening, the LFF will host four major industry events, outlined below. Other LFF industry events will be coordinated by the LFF's Special Events Office, run by Hamish Summers and Rosie Meachin.
