Sydney Good Dog Fest ready to kick off

THE SYDNEY GOOD DOG!   INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
17-19 AUGUST 2012

The Good Dog! International Film Festival launches 17 August 2012 with the feature film “My Dog – an unconditional love story” starring fashion leader Isaac Mizrahi and his beloved dog Harry as well as other celebrities and their dogs. Trailer can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Qp-NNtihDY
Featured in the film are visits to Glenn Close and her playful dogs at her home; Richard Gere and Carey Lowell and their beautiful adopted dog;  Richard Belzer, whose terrier mix accompanies him wherever he goes; and Edie Falco, who rescued her dog, adopted her children and shares her philosophy on both.
Mizrahi says, “From the moment I met Harry I knew I loved him madly. It still feels like that. He was quite aloof in the shelter, and I thought, ‘this is perfect, he doesn’t need me.’ Then, the minute I got him home, he turned into the neediest thing in the world. Two weeks in, I thought: ’I’m trapped.’ But then I realised you get all of this affection by giving up a tiny bit of freedom. That’s the price of love, darling. And that was what was missing from my life: Love without borders”
Festival Director Anny Slater said the unique Good Dog! Film Festival screens films about dogs and dog stories and the inaugural  festival is full of celebrities including Christopher Meloni (Law & Order), Uggie the Dog and Howard the Scooter Dog as well as a film from Stephen Spielberg’s favourite cinematographer Harris Done.
The festival has attracted Oscar nominated and BAFTA winning submissions and boasts films featuring dogs submitted from New York, London, Canada, Japan, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia.

"My Dog- an unconditional love story" screens at 8pm on 18 August 2012 at the Balmain Town Hall, Balmain. Tickets through Moondance Pictures on 0298181813 or info@moondancepictures.com Profits from the festival are shared between the Animal Welfare League, Monika’s Doggie Rescue and BowMeow, a dog waking and minding service for the elderly and disabled.
