The Inigo Film Festival calling for shorts...

TIFF Regulations for the 4th  Iñigo Film Festival 2013

1. The 4 th  Iñigo Film Festival (TIFF) and the “Iñigo Awards” are sponsored by the Society of Jesus as represented by the Conference of European Provincials (CEP).

2. The prizes (“Iñigo Awards”) will be awarded to short films on the theme “City of God”.

The maximum length is 20 minutes. The format for submissions must be DVD (region 0, 1 or 2) or Blu-ray (region 0 or 2) in PAL or NTSC. It is expected that these films will successfully integrate their religious, spiritual, and social themes with the resources of film as a modern artistic medium. English subtitles are required for non-English language films.

3. TIFF is world-wide in scope. It is intended for—and limited to—independent young filmmakers. The age limit is 35 (= date of birth 1978 and later).

4. There will be a first prize of 2.500 Euro, with a second and third prize of 1.500 Euro and 1.000 Euro respectively. There will be two additional non-monetary Awards: one to a film chosen by the audience, “The Audience Award”, and “The Fidel Goetz Emerging Film-Maker Award” recognizing the best film by young film makers who do not have access to professional equipment.

5. The winners will be decided by a jury consisting of two representatives from the area of film and new media, and two members of the Society of Jesus.

6. All who enter the competition agree not to contest the jury’s decisions through any legal process. The outcome of the judging procedure for the “Iñigo Awards” is final.

7. All submissions are non-returnable. All materials submitted become the property of the Society of Jesus. Please do not send the original tape or any other original materials.

The sender alone is responsible for postage. The Society of Jesus will not accept shipments on delivery and will not pay duty on shipments requiring it. Rights for Broadcasting and Copyrights:

8. The author or the group submitting a film must have the full right, power and authority to enter it into the film festival (TIFF). The film-maker must have obtained and will maintain during the time of the festival all rights, authorizations, permits, exemptions, consents and licenses covering the film to grant TIFF the broadcast and public performance rights.

9. The author or the group gives permission to the Society of Jesus to use the stills for promoting TIFF and the “Iñigo Awards” in print and electronic media (CD, DVD, Bluray, Internet).

10. The author or the group gives permission to the Society of Jesus for the collecting and viewing of the submitted film in the “TIFF / Iñigo Award” Library.

11. The author or the group gives permission to the Society of Jesus to broadcast up to 3 minutes of the submitted film or using the trailer in order to promote TIFF and the “Iñigo Awards” on radio, television, and the Internet.

12. The author or group gives permission for the Society of Jesus to show the submitted film for the duration of World Youth Day as well as at pre-program publicity screenings.

  The Iñigo Film Festival TIFF

About The Iñigo Film Festival
The cinema enjoys a wealth of languages, a multiplicity of styles and a variety of narrative forms that are truly great: from realism to fable, from history to science fiction, from adventure to tragedy, from comedy to news, from animated cartoon to documentary. It thus offers an incomparable storehouse of expressive means for portraying the various areas in which the human being finds himself and for interpreting his inescapable calling to the beautiful, the universal and the absolute.” (John Paul II.)

The Jesuits are pleased again to announce the 4th "Iñigo Film Festival" for short films at the World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Entries are accepted in the following categories: narrative fiction, animated and documentary on the general theme of ‘City of God’. A wide variety of interpretations of this topic is expected and encouraged.
