Twelve European films are confirmed by European Film Promotion’s (EFP) members to receive Film Sales Support (FSS) for North America’s prestigious Sundance Film Festival (16-26 January 2014). FSS which is EFP’s support scheme for European sales agents has now entered its eleventh year thanks to the continuous support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union. Sundance is one of the FSS flagship festivals with highly successful sales results. FSS covers up to 45% of costs in relation to the respective promotion campaigns at the festival and lays special emphasis on sales companies networking with North American and international buyers.

Seven feature films and five documentaries from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Germany and the UK are at this year’s receiving end. A total amount of €41,380 has been earmarked for the individual promotional and market campaigns. The majority of the films are competing in the festival’s World Dramatic and World Documentary Competition sections. This year’s films are being represented by 10 different European sales agents: Nadav Schirman’s gripping documentary, The Green Prince, based on the bestselling memoir, Son of Hamas, is being represented by Germany’s Global Screen, 20,000 Days on Earth, a fictionalised day in the life of singer Nick Cave by directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard is being sold by Hanway Films as is the musical feature film, God Help the Girl by Stuart Murdoch of Glasgow band, Belle and Sebastian. Notably, three Norwegian films are also taking part this year: LevelK’s Sleepwalker (Mona Fastvold), Versatile’s Blind (Eskil Vogt) and Elle Driver’s Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead (Tommy Wirkola).
