QWFF screens innovative and challenging films from around the world and around the corner and includes an annual festival, industry panels, special screening events, and popular youth-oriented educational initiatives. 2014 categories include: Narrative Shorts and Features, Documentary Shorts and Features, Animated films and LGBTQ films of any length. Submissions are via Without A Box.

DATES
The 4th Annual Queens World Film Festival will run March 4-9, 2014. We will return to the Museum of the Moving Image for our opening night and over the next 5 days we will host screenings at venues in Jackson Heights, Long Island City and Sunnyside.
PAST VENUES

PROGRAMMING & THEMES
We program our festival in thematic BLOCKS, which maximizes each film’s audience potential. Once submissions close, the screening committee, under the direction of QWFF Programmer and award winning Filmmaker Don Cato will convene to program the festival. Some of the 2013 themes included: Off the Beaten Path, Men Are Dogs, A Fork In The Reality, Tales of Peace. This year’s themes will be driven by the selected films and will be announced when the schedule is revealed in January.

When you purchase a ticket for a screening at QWFF, you are purchasing a ticket for the entire BLOCK, not an individual film. The scheduled time noted on the website or in our program is when the BLOCK will begin, not each individual film. Each BLOCK will be hosted by a QWFF Festival host who will welcome the guests, intro the films and host the Q&A that concludes each BLOCK.

Please note: Guests who arrive after the first film in the BLOCK has begun will not be allowed to enter until the next break between films and we strongly discourage guests from leaving before a BLOCK is concluded.

VENUES
The 2013 festival venues were: Museum of the Moving Image, The Jackson Triplex in Jackson Heights, The Secret Theatre in Long Island City, The Renaissance Charter School, and PS 69.

INDUSTRY PANEL: A CONVERSATION WITH SANDRA SCHULBER, MARC JACOBSON AND ADELINE MONZIER. TOPIC: THE BUSINESS OF SHOW

Even though Youtube, Facebook and Kickstarter have dramatically changed the entertainment landscape, the same question needs to be answered: How does the Indie/Outsider filmmaker engage the right kind of legal support, the right producer, the right team? 2013 panelists:

SANDRA SCHULBERG spent seven years in Europe as a senior executive for American Playhouse/Playhouse International Pictures and she founded the Independent Feature Project and IFP Market; co-founded First Run Features; served as one of the first nominators to the Sundance Filmmakers Lab, and, for five years, as a member of the Sundance Film Festival Advisory Committee.

MARC JACOBSON is the Founding Chairman of the NYS Bar Association Section on Entertainment Arts & Sports Law, testified before Congress and WIPO regarding the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and was Adjunct Professor of Entertainment Law at Fordham University Law School, CUNY Law School and The New School.

ADELINE MONZIER joined DIRE, a French syndicate comprising 9 independent distributors -- and created Europa Distribution, a network of independent European distributors, which she now manages. In august 2013, Adeline Monzier became the new U.S. N.Y.-based representative of Unifrance the promotion agency for French cinema abroad.
