At Doc Lounge Aarhus events, showing of documentary films does not stand alone but is a part of a holistic experience, and the mood is laid with the events being situated in a nice lounge environment with a bar. Before and after the film the audience gets cultural bonus experiences with performances, exhibitions, presentations and music that have some relevance to the topic of the film. On top of that there can be showings of short films as previews, preferably locally produced. After the film there can be a debate with one or more of the creative powers behind the film, or presentations by people who have some expertise on the film topic. In the centre of Doc Lounge events are the quality experiences of the audience in a relaxed atmosphere that informally invites to crisscrossing debate and discussion.

Doc Lounge Aarhus is a part of the network Doc Lounge Scandinavia. Since the beginning in Malmö in 2006 and with the spread to 14 other Northern cities, Doc Lounge has grown into a trendsetting alternative cinema and a network for distribution of high quality documentary films nationally and internationally. 

Doc Lounge Aarhus is created on the initiative of AARHUS FILMFESTIVAL and is a part of our activities. The events are prepared by a group of dedicated volunteers. Doc Lounge Aarhus is supported by Filmby Aarhus.

Doc Lounge Aarhus had in 2011 seven and in 2012 + 2013 eight screenings of documentary films. The average audience number fluctuates between 30 and 150.
