I Spy My Father

The 20th century zigzags its way through the short but intense life of enigmatic Hungarian born Canadian Leslie Gordon. Suspecting her father was a spy, Laurie Gordon follows the trail of her father who died when she was 14 months old. The only audio video in existence of her father is his compelling testimony at the Eichmann trial used in films The Specialist and the feature film Hannah Arendt. Under a variety of different jobs from boxer in the 1936 People’s Olympics, fighter in the Spanish Civil War to journalist for the Toronto Star during the Hungarian revolution, it is her father’s visit to the Congo in crisis 1961 after Lumumba’s assassination, which begs the question, was her father a spy?
