Woodstock Honors <i>Recoil & Wendigo</i>Woodstock Film Festival The 2nd Woodstock Film Festival (Sept. 20-23) was a resounding success, according to filmmakers, industry participants and audiences at the four day film extravaganza in Woodstock, New York. More than 90% of films, seminars and events were sold out in advance with approximately 4000 people attending. Best Feature film trophy was shared by two films: Recoil by Polish filmmaker Jarek Kupsc and Wendigo by American filmmaker Larry Fessenden. Kupsc's Recoil tells the story of a disturbed alcoholic veteran caught in a downward spiral and a disillusioned Bosnian war survivor investigate their violent experiences. Fessenden's Wendigo is a tale set in upstate New York about Kim (Patricia Clarkson), George (Jake Weber) and their eight-year-old son, Miles (Erik Per Sullivan), who are city dwellers stealing a weekend away at a friend's country farmhouse. But a fluke accident sets off a chain of events that alters their lives forever and conjures up the ferocious spirit of the Wendigo, a Native American Myth made manifest in Miles' imagination. Winner for Best Documentary film was Passages by Argentina-born, but Los Angeles-based, filmmaker Gabriella Bohm. In this personal documentary, a filmmaker sets off on an odyssey through Eastern Europe, South America and the United States to uncover long-harbored family mysteries, myths and secrets.
