See A World of Films at Cascadia International Women's Film Festival!

CASCADIA INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S FILM FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS APRIL

In-person Festival in Bellingham April 25-28 + Streaming Online May 2-12

Join us this spring in beautiful Bellingham to celebrate exceptional films directed by women around the world! CASCADIA International Women's Film Festival is excited to announce its eighth festival season. Approximately 40 films will be screened over the course of the four-day in person festival in Bellingham, WA from April 25-28. An online festival will follow CASCADIA's in-person screenings May 2-12. Festival programs are followed by a Q&A with the attending filmmakers or a panel discussion with industry speakers. CASCADIA also hosts networking and social opportunities for visiting filmmakers.

CASCADIA is one of the few festivals of its kind, curating a program of diverse stories told by women directors from all over the world that span a host of genres -- featuring narrative, live-action, animation, documentary, and experimental films of all lengths. Since its first festival in 2017, the festival has presented the films of 220 women directors. The organization also works year-round to provide film production, exhibition, and distribution education.

CASCADIA knows that a woman’s perspective is too rarely seen in film. An art form that teaches, informs, inspires, and motivates, is missing an essential perspective on humanity when women’s voices are not heard. This problem exists internationally, but especially in Hollywood, and the festival is committed to changing this culture, by offering a venue -- and a support system -- for women to tell their stories through the medium of film.

Stay tuned for the full line-up of films and events -- Coming Soon!

ABOUT CWIFF

The CASCADIA International Women’s Film Festival (CASCADIA for short) is a 501© (3) nonprofit based in Bellingham, Washington. It was founded in 2015, following a successful collaboration with Toronto’s Female Eye Film Festival to present eight documentary films directed by women at “Doctober,” a month-long event held every October at the Pickford Film Center in downtown Bellingham, WA. Five women filmmakers and the FeFF artistic director participated in a Directors’ Panel, hosted by Western Washington University’s College of Fine and Performing Arts. The event was well-attended by the local film community, students, and members of the public.

CASCADIA sponsored a new program of documentary films and workshops at the Pickford’s 2016 “Doctober” film festival. Included were an evening kick-off party and two days of films and networking events. That effort was repeated in 2017 with additional sold-out screenings.

CASCADIA debuted its own independent film festival April 20-23, 2017 with a curated program of 24 films from around the world produced and directed by women. A second successful film festival was held April 12-15, 2018. CASCADIA also hosted educational events to assist aspiring and working directors. CASCADIA has continued to present world-class films directed by women including moving online during the pandemic -- one of the first festivals in the country to do so.
