We're thrilled to announce this year's lineup of films and events for the 42nd annual Seattle International Film Festival. This year, SIFF will screen 421 films representing 85 countries, including 54 World premieres, 56 North American premieres, and 27 US premieres - plus guests, tributes, parties, and more!

A Tribute to Viggo Mortensen
JUNE 11 | SIFF CINEMA EGYPTIAN
Viggo Mortensen is receiving SIFF's Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award and as part of our tribute to the versatile actor, we have the Northwest premiere of Matt Ross’s Captain Fantastic along with an on stage interview with Mortensen. The tribute continues with special screenings of A Walk on the Moon, Eastern Promises, and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

An Afternoon with Molly Shannon

We're featuring an on stage interview with actress Molly Shannon and a screening of Chris Kelly’s Other People, an unflinching, emotional seriocomedy starring Shannon. The comedienne’s latest film, Miles, will make its World premiere May 21 with director Nathan Adloff and Molly Shannon, in attendance.

The Dressmaker
This 1950s-set Australian revenge comedy-drama from Jocelyn Moorehouse closes SIFF 2016, featuring an acclaimed cast that includes Kate Winslet, Liam Hemsworth, and Hugo Weaving.

Galas and Special Screenings
The SIFF 2016 Opening Night Gala features master filmmaker Woody Allen's Café Society, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell, and Blake Lively. The emotionally wrenching documentary from Clay Tweel, Gleason, follows Spokane-born NFL star Steve Gleason's battle with ALS and will screen at the Festival’s Centerpiece Gala on Saturday, June 4. This year's festival also features the World Premieres of Seattle native Megan Griffiths’s The Night Stalker, a thriller about notorious serial killer Richard Ramirez with Griffiths and star Lou Diamond Phillips in attendance at the June 4 screening. SIFF is inaugurating an Official Main Competition Slate of 12 films to highlight and celebrate compelling stories made by exceptional filmmakers. In addition to SIFF’s longstanding juried competitions for New Directors, Documentary Features, the New American Cinema Competition and short films, SIFF 2016 will also feature a brand new Ibero-American Competition.
