Revelation Perth International Film Festival kicks off its nineteenth season tonight at the Luna Cinema in Leederville, Perth, Western Australia and runs until 17 July 2016.
 
The annual Festival opens with a screening of Demolition starring Jake Gyllenhall and Naomi Watts, along with the launch of the much anticipated Rev's Soup Kitchen and a spectacular lighting exhibition by Perth Audio Visual.
 
Highlights of Revelation 2016 include industry guests and speakers, seminars and masterclasses; Muppets, Music and Magic: The Jim Henson Legacy – a retrospective celebration of Jim Henson’s work from commercials to feature films to television, including screenings of Muppet movies, The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth; ScreenWest’s annual showcase of emerging WA filmmaking talent in Get Your Shorts On!; the return of hugely popular Iranian Film Festival; the WA premiere of the controversial Swiss Army Man; and the Revel-8 Super-8 short film festival.
 
Revelation has established itself as an international film festival like no other with its thoughtful and provocative program which boasts 143 film screenings with 42 Australian premieres and 14 World premieres, making it fertile ground for independent filmmakers, distributors and discerning audiences.
 
Festival Director Richard Sowada says this year’s expanded program offered something for everyone with any level of interest in film and film culture, and - just as importantly - entertainment.
 
“This year’s expanded program wraps in talks, education, academia, installation and of course an unbeatable selection of brand new films direct for the international independent and film festival scene,” Richard said.
 
“It’s wholly unique and I think embraces a real individual spirit filled with challenge, strength, integrity and power”.
