LALIFF 2013 CLOSING NIGHT FILM: NOSOTROS LOS NOBLES
The 16th Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) announced today, Mexico's most successful film of all time, 'Nosotros Los Nobles', will be shown at the festival's Closing Night Gala Celebration on Monday, October 14th, 2013 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown, Los Angeles, California. Directed, co-written and co-produced by Gaz Alazraki ("Volver, Volver", and "Respete la Señales"), the comedy will make its US premiere at LALIFF. The evening will serve as the closing event of the festival that runs from October 10th to 14th. See www.latinofilm.org for more information.
'Nosotros Los Nobles' (We Are the Nobles) has become Mexico's most successful movie of all time, grossing $26,250,000 after 16 weeks in the box office since it opened on March 22th, 2013. The hit comedy debuted writer-director Gary "Gaz" Alazraki and newcomer Alazrakie Films.
"We are so excited to be hosting the U.S. Premiere of 'Nosotros Los Nobles' as our Closing Night film this year," said Marlene Dermer, Co-founder/Executive Director/Programmer of LALIFF. "I am very proud of LALIFF's track record of debuting the work of first time Latino filmmakers such as Mr. Alazraki. A tradition which includes past directors such as, Claudia Llosa, Fernando Mierelles, Pablo Larrain, Pablo Trapero, Sebastian Cordero, to name a few. 'Nosotros Los Nobles' is an entertaining, humorous, and at times deep story of the social class disparity with a universal message and very realistic characters. I know that U.S. general public will love this film and we can't wait to share it with our audience."
When successful construction mogul, Herman Noble (Gonzalo Vega) realizes his children are spoiled beyond redemption, he stages the company bankruptcy and seizure of all their assets. And tricks them into believing they are fugitives from the law. He moves them into their grandfather's dilapidated home in a poor neighborhood and makes them do something none of them have ever done before... work.
The film 'Nosotros Los Nobles' was directed by Gary "Gaz" Alazraki, and co-written by Gary "Gaz" Alazraki, Adrian Zurita, Patricio Saiz and executive producers Gary "Gaz" Alazraki and Leonardo Zimbron. The film stars Gonzalo Vega, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Karla Souza, Juan Pablo Gil, Ianis Guerrero, and Carlos Gascon. The running time is 95 minutes in Spanish with English subtitles.
