HIFF’s inaugural ‘Ōpio Fest is tailored to engage young audiences and families through a celebration of student films that spotlights the diverse voices of young filmmakers across Hawai‘i.

We are honored to bring this new Festival to audiences of all ages and take pride in offering all ‘Ōpio Fest programming completely FREE to the public!

Please join us in recognizing the remarkable achievements of these young filmmakers and we encourage you to support HIFF’s Education Programs by making an optional donation.

This free HIFILM Panel explores the importance of the IMPACT PRODUCER, a specialist who creates and manages social action campaigns, and are responsible for designing and implementing strategic impact and education strategies around social impact documentaries.

The panel features Meghan Welsch (THE SOCIAL DILEMMA, CHASING CORAL), and HIFF43 filmmakers, Leah Warshawski (UNCLE BULLY'S SURF SKOOL) and Laurel Tamayo (GEN Z MENTAL HEALTH: CLIMATE STORIES).

HIFF is Making Moves!

Aloha friends,

It’s my delight to let you know about some big changes at HIFF. In addition to launching an entirely new Youth Showcase, HIFF ‘Ōpio Fest, we have recently moved offices! Our new location is at 3512 Waialae Ave, right in the heart of Kaimuki. We are excited to be joining the creative local community in the Kahala-Kaimuki corridor. While our offices are still in transition, keep your eyes out for a Summer 2024 Grand Opening event.

This space marks a new phase for our organization, as we grow HIFFs year-round presence offering additional programs and services to Hawai‘i’s film community. Our new storefront office and multi-use space will be used to host small events, a box office and merch store; HIFF member screenings, panels/workshops/labs, and meetups; and has the capability for use as production rental and additional workspace.

As always, I hope you consider becoming a HIFF member for advance notice on events and new members-only offerings. With more exciting things planned for the Fall, we look forward to soaring with you in 2024.
